Official Announcement from the MGLL:

The Jackie Pitts award is an award that is awarded by US Lacrosse to a member of the senior class in leagues throughout the United States. There is a Jackie Pitts award winner for each league.

From US Lacrosse: This award recognizes a senior player in each area who goes above and beyond in service to her team, school, and community. An athlete, who truly honors the game of lacrosse, is invested in the development of the game in her community, and is an exemplary member of her team. This player exemplifies the fundamentals of lacrosse, works hard to improve her game, and exemplifies the spirit of the game both on and off the field. Academically, she is an outstanding student and a valued role model in her school.

Since the Midwest Girls Lacrosse League (MGLL) officially formed for Spring of 2020, we were able to award the Jackie Pitts Award. The MGLL is pleased to announce that Ivy Wiens of Millard West is the inaugural winner of the Jackie Pitts Award for the Midwest Girls Lacrosse League.

Ivy has been a member of the Millard West team since its inception and has worked to promote the growth of the team at Millard West High School and in the area Middle Schools. Ivy was a 3 year All-League player, 3 year captain, 4-year Varsity starter and letter winner, was twice named Defensive Player of the Year and once named Team MVP for Millard West. She became certified to officiate youth lacrosse, as a way to give back to the sport that has given so much to her and to provide a positive role model for younger female players in the Omaha area.

Ivy has succeeded academically at Millard West, maintaining a rigorous academic schedule, as well as participating in various clubs at Millard West, including CatBotics and Health Occupation Students of America. As a Junior and Senior she has attended the Millard Public School Health Sciences Academy and has become CNA and CPR certified. Ivy has also volunteered in various ways within her community, including in the nursery at her church, with the Red Cross and being a Top 5 Team Fundraiser.

Ivy will attend Benedictine College in Atchinson, Kansas next year to continue her academic and athletic career.

To the other nominees whose nominations were received by the committee, the MGLL is very proud of you and your commitment to lacrosse, academics and your community.

Please join us as we congratulate Ivy on being the inaugural Jackie Pitts award winner for the MGLL. The official announcement from US Lacrosse can be found here: https://www.uslacrosse.org/blog/us-lacrosse-announces-high-school-boys%E2%80%99-girls%E2%80%99-award-winners
